Sean Goodrich
Managing Director
Mr. Goodrich is a co-founder of Aether Investment Partners and is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and monitoring investments. Immediately prior to forming Aether Investment Partners, Mr. Goodrich served as the Director of Alternative Investments at Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, Inc. During his tenure at Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, Mr. Goodrich led the firm’s private capital and real assets research activities. In this capacity, he was responsible for designing investment portfolios and sourcing, evaluating and monitoring private equity, venture capital, special situation, real estate and natural resource investments recommended to the firm’s institutional clients.
In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, Mr. Goodrich served on several fund advisory committees, supervised a team of analysts and associates, helped direct Jeffrey Slocum & Associates’ hedge fund research activities and served on the firm’s Hedge Fund and Strategic Development Committees. Prior to Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, Mr. Goodrich worked for First Union Securities as an analyst, Trigon Engineering Consultants as an engineering technician and Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. as a trader and institutional salesman. Mr. Goodrich earned a BS in Business with a minor in Russian from St. Michael’s College, where he was graduated with honors, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. Mr. Goodrich is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
Troy Schell
Managing Director
Mr. Schell is a co-founder of Aether Investment Partners and is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and monitoring investments. Immediately prior to forming Aether Investment Partners, Mr. Schell served as a Director and portfolio manager for BlackRock Alternative Advisors (“BAA”) following the acquisition of Quellos Group’s fund of funds business by BlackRock in October, 2007. Mr. Schell joined Quellos Private Capital Markets, L.P. (“QPCM”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Quellos Group, in July of 2002. During his tenure with QPCM and BAA, Mr. Schell was involved in the formation, launch, marketing and portfolio management of Quellos Real Assets, L.P. and Quellos Real Assets II, L.P. He also was responsible for conducting and leading due diligence of underlying real assets funds, served as QPCM and BAA’s representative on various advisory committees associated with underlying fund investments and supervised QPCM and BAA’s analysts and associates.
Prior to joining QPCM, Mr. Schell was employed by Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, where he served as Director of Domestic Equity Manager Research. Mr. Schell earned a BSBA with majors in Economics and Finance from Creighton University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and earned the distinction of Dean’s Scholar. Mr. Schell is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
Kristen Federer
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Federer is responsible for overseeing accounting, financial operations and the firm’s operational due diligence program. Immediately prior to joining Aether Investment Partners in September of 2014, Ms. Federer served as a Director responsible for operational due diligence at BlackRock Alternative Advisors (“BAA”). While at BAA, Ms. Federer was responsible for comprehensive operational due diligence reviews of existing and prospective investment managers and their respective service providers, including the evaluation of personnel, systems infrastructure, valuation and compliance policies and procedures and fund offering and legal documentation.
Prior to BAA, Ms. Federer was employed by TLP Trading LLC as an Operations Manager, Grosvenor Capital Management, L.P. as a Finance Associate and Deloitte Tax LLP as a Senior Tax Consultant. Ms. Federer earned a BS in Accounting with minors in Finance and Marketing from Purdue University.
